How a holiday book inspired Suspire Media
In early 2003 I took a much-needed break to Lake Garda, Italy. Nestled within my hand luggage there was a 'holiday book', the book was called 'Designing with Web Standards' by Jeffrey Zeldman.
I started reading the book as soon as the plane left the ground, and by the time we landed at Brescia airport I had read over 100 pages. I felt motivated by Zeldman's passion for web design and compelled to read on. By the afternoon of the second day of the holiday I had finished the book!
I returned to the UK inspired by Zeldman's words and almost immediately began to develop a plan to change the way I designed and developed websites. Out went framesets, font tags, and table based design. In came separating content from presentation, validation, accessibility, XHTML, CSS, and building sites with Web Standards ... Suspire Media was born.
Twitter, what the hell am I going on about?
It's fair to say that I am not a prolific tweeter, I usually tweet once or twice a day, my tweets generally cover website news/industry developments, environmental issues, peak oil and current affairs. From time to time I write micro reviews on books I have read and films I have watched. If you follow me, I might follow you, however I am very choosy about whom I follow. I always make an effort to reply to other people's tweets.
